Story and Background: Who is Ruan Mei in Honkai Star Rail?

Ruan Mei is member number 81 o f the Genius Society, a group that gathers some of the most brilliant minds in the universe, and she works as a researcher studying the origin and mechanics of life itself.

She is a soft-spoken, elegant scholar whose reserved manner hides a very sharp mind, and she originally had no interest in joining the Genius Society at all, reportedly trying to throw away her invitation before eventually accepting her place among its members.

Her research eventually drew the attention of Nous, the Aeon of Erudition, and that connection pushed her further into her work while making her even more withdrawn from the people around her.

Before she left the Herta Space Station on her travels, Ruan Mei used its lower levels for her own experiments, working alongside fellow Genius Society member Herta, with whom she also helped design the Simulated Universe.
